If you are thinking about taking a first Ashtanga class, we highly recommend you to join a Mysore Self-Practice class. Self-Practice is the traditional way of learning yoga. During the class the teacher will take special care of each student and will help you to create a routine according to your experience. The duration of the class is flexible, you can start and finish according to your needs and there are students of different levels practicing at the same time. If you are a beginner, your class will take 50-60 minutes, so we recommend you to arrive at latest one hour before closing time.

Recommendations for your experience in the Shala:

  • Wear confortable and light clothes and always bring an extra shirt to change after the class. During winter we recommend a sweater.

  • Keep silente in the Shala in order to respect the practice of the other students.

  • Do not eat for 2-3 hours before the practice and if you really need some food before class, we recommend something light like a smoothie or fruit.

  • If you can, take a shower before class, it's ideal to prepare and relax your body as well as for hygenic reasons.

  • Bring your own yoga mat and towel if you have onw. If not, we have mats for the students. However we'd ask you to always clean it after using it and store it back at the entrance after practice.

  • Ashtanguis usually practice 6 days a week. Of course not everybody can do that, but we recommend to practice at least 3 times a week in order to experience the extraordinary benefits of the practice. If you need our help two create a little routine which can easily be followed at home, we are happy to assist your.

  • Full and new moon days are Yoga Holidays. Here is more Information: Link.

  • It is not recommended to practice Ashtanga during menstruation. Those days are resting days for women.
